We had a Mother’s Day photoshoot scheduled with me and the girls on a Monday afternoon. Poor Lexa had a little stomach bug the night before. I gave her the “out” and told her she didn’t have to do the shoot this year and she said, “Mom, don’t worry, I’ll be okay. It’s important to you and Dune, and we do it every year. We’re doing it!” I was so proud of her in that moment and I know every Mom will have a different opinion regarding the situation, but for me, it showed real recognition that following through with your commitments is important in life. These babies bring so much joy into the world and I just want to squeeze them when I look at these photos. Hug your babies today!<\/p>\n

“The days are long and the years are short.\u201d \u00a0My sons are both beach boys – our summers are filled with long car rides followed by boogie boarding in the waves, splashing along the Cape Cod beaches, Lighthouse tours, whale-watching near Ptown, train museums, airplane museums, vintage trolley museums near the Maine and Connecticut shorelines, and now the winters are for skiing in NH. I find joy in the journey, holding onto all of the special moments, adventures, and experiences we make together. It’s always beautiful how Dune Jewelry can hold stories of past adventures and moments in time. When my oldest (now 11 years old) was 6 months old, we took him to Siesta Key, FL – my son loved playing in (and taste testing) the powdery white sand – I just put this memory into these sparkly Veronica hoops<\/a>!<\/p>\n I was told at a very young age that I wouldn\u2019t be able to have children. I accepted this by diving into my corporate career, telling myself every day that I didn\u2019t want to have children. Once I met my husband, I quickly changed my mind and after years of trying with many ups and downs and lots of medical help, I was blessed with my daughter that I call my miracle baby.<\/p>\n For me, being a mom is beyond priceless. She is the best thing to ever happen to me. When asked about Motherhood I simply say, I love the pitter-patter of little feet and the laughter that fills my home but the best gift I was ever given was the gift of Motherhood. I am one blessed mama and I wouldn\u2019t want it another way.<\/p>\n With that being said, Dune has captured so many memories of all of our Mother\/Daughter travels together. Every time we travel, which is often, we pick flowers or bring back sand to add to the Sandbank<\/a>. Sometimes it’s a simple seashell to put into a new Dune piece to remember that trip. Planning those getaways has become its own little ritual too\u2014I’ll be up late scrolling through travel deals and hotel reviews, and the algorithm clearly has no idea what to do with me because one minute I’m comparing resort pools and the next it’s serving me ads for the best casino online<\/a> or some random flight to Reykjavik. I screenshot the good finds, ignore the rest, and by morning my daughter and I have our next adventure on the books. Not only do I get to share the adventures of travel with my daughter but we get to have a keepsake of each and every trip with Dune.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Motherhood these days looks like beautiful chaos: chasing little naked bums around the house, wiping marker off the walls, playing hide-and-go-seek, loads and loads of laundry… just to name a few. “The days are long but the years are short” couldn’t be more accurate. In this moment of motherhood,\u00a0I try my best to stay present and embrace all the silly, messy, heart-melting moments before my babies grow up in the blink of an eye. These last 5 years of being a Mother have been the best years of my life!<\/p>\n I have always considered myself incredibly fortunate to have a loving and supportive mother – always encouraging my sister and me in all our crazy endeavors. Shortly after marrying my husband, I realized I hit the “mother lottery” again. Gaining his mother as my mother-in-law has truly been a blessing, adding yet another strong and resilient woman to my life.<\/p>\n Three generations. My mom and my daughter. My mom was my rock. Cherish the time you have with them. There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t think of her. My daughter, well, she makes me laugh every day. She’s a joy to be around. Motherhood….it’s the best!<\/p>\n Every day I am thankful to have my sweet husky\u00a0Poseidon in my life. Some may think it’s funny, but I know I am not the only dog mom out there that considers her dog to be her child. I mean I DID raise him from a 7-week-old puppy to the big old goof he is today. There isn’t a thing I would\u00a0do to protect my baby boy & to always make sure he’s living his happiest life! It is safe to say every day is a new adventure, especially\u00a0with a husky!<\/p>\n While I may not be a “Mom” I’m a proud Auntie to my 5 “chicken nuggets”. My mom passed when I was a young girl, so when my sister had her first child, Vince, I was overwhelmed emotion of getting to see my family expand. From paying $20 bucks for a crayon drawing (encouraging them to value their artwork) to all of the “upside-down walks”, nothing makes me feel more important than being “Auntie L”. Being a boy mum has definitely been a wonderful adventure and one I have enjoyed every minute of so far. From chasing Jake around as a cheeky toddler, to snorkeling by his side in the Great Barrier Reef, cheering him on from the sidelines of many soccer tournaments, and more recently, zip lining through the Costa Rican Rainforest with him!
