At Dune Jewelry, we draw inspiration from the boundlessness and pristine beauty of our oceans when designing many of our pieces.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

To give back, we know it’s not only our responsibility to educate our audiences on the human-induced threats to our oceans such as plastic pollution, whaling, and overfishing, but also to go one step further and take action.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Plastic waste in particular poses a massive threat to marine life and ecosystems worldwide, with more than 75 million tons of plastic waste found currently in our oceans. The average annual death rate of marine animals caused by plastic pollution is 100 million per year.<\/span><\/p>\n

Taking Action With 4ocean<\/span><\/h2>\n

To celebrate World Water Day and Global Recycling Day this month we\u2019re shining the spotlight on one of our collaborators, 4ocean, an <\/span>ocean cleanup company<\/span><\/a> founded by two dedicated surfers.<\/span><\/p>\n

Their mission is clear: to end the ocean plastic crisis. Through a global cleanup campaign, 4ocean’s full-time captains and crew remove plastic and debris from oceans, rivers, and coastlines on a daily basis.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

4ocean’s dedication extends beyond cleanup efforts. As a Public Benefit Corporation and Certified B Corp, they work to educate communities about plastic pollution, empower individuals to reduce single-use plastic consumption, and advocate for sustainable solutions on a global scale.<\/span><\/p>\n

That message has found traction well beyond traditional environmental circles. Last spring, a group of regulars across a few online poker sites<\/a> pooled a charity tournament pot and sent it to a coastal cleanup crew in Indonesia. Small-scale efforts like that one have helped 4ocean’s broader mission gain visibility in communities the organization might never have reached through conventional outreach alone.<\/p>\n
