Some of our most meaningful memories aren\u2019t the ones we planned.<\/p>\n

For Kelly Taylor, one of those memories began on the shores of Lake Huron with a birthday surprise, some leftover barbecue coals, and an afternoon her father would talk about for years.<\/p>\n

Today, that memory lives on through a custom bracelet filled with the places, people, and little details she never wants to forget.<\/p>\n

A Bracelet for Two People She Loves<\/h2>\n

Kelly originally reached out to Dune hoping to create an in-memoriam design using her father\u2019s and brother\u2019s cremains. When she ultimately wasn\u2019t able to obtain them, she worked with Jessica from our Customer Experience team to find another way to tell their story.<\/p>\n

The answer was in the places and details that already meant so much.<\/p>\n

Kelly chose Ruby for her father\u2019s July birthstone, Pink Tourmaline for her brother\u2019s October birthstone, and sand from Lake Huron,<\/a> a place deeply connected to some of her happiest family memories.<\/p>\n

Our Studio Manager, Sarah, then brought those meaningful elements together by hand.<\/p>\n

Burgers on the Beach<\/h2>\n

Kelly\u2019s parents retired to Northern Michigan around 2002, and she remembers it as \u201cthe happiest I have ever seen them.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

One year, her father\u2019s July birthday happened to fall on a Saturday. Kelly and her siblings surprised him with a day at the beach. They hadn\u2019t planned a barbecue, but someone nearby had been grilling and left behind hot coals.<\/p>\n

So they improvised.<\/p>\n

Burgers were made. The family stayed. And an unplanned afternoon became the kind of memory her father would still talk about years later.<\/p>\n

He called it \u201cBurgers on the Beach.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWe all had so much fun and my dad still talked about that day years later.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

That\u2019s why Lake Huron sand belonged in Kelly\u2019s bracelet. It connects her not only to a shoreline her family loved, but to one very specific afternoon and all the joy held within it.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s another beautiful detail in Kelly\u2019s story. After finding her father\u2019s signature on a high school graduation photograph he had given her mother, she had his handwriting tattooed onto her wrist.<\/p>\n
