To me, the family beach cottage\u00a0feels as though it&#8217;s been preserved from another time. Everything is bright carved wood, cream\u00a0colored curtains and grandmothers crystal. Little has been changed since it was built in 1930.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dunejewelry.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/IMG_0126.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-790 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/dunejewelry.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/IMG_0126-225x300.jpeg\" alt=\"IMG_0126\" width=\"185\" height=\"247\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Beachside Niantic<\/h2>\n<p>I love the beach. It\u2019s a great excuse to let my hair go wavy wild in the salt water and to stay fresh faced and natural, especially after topping up our fun fund <a href=\"http:\/\/angelaeagle.co.uk\/\">from online casinos that accept credit cards<\/a>. Alex and I went to the beach in the early morning to avoid the strongest hours of sunshine. We lathered on the chemical-free tangerine scented sunscreen, strapped the beach chairs to our backs, and kissed the dog goodbye. The waves were small and mild and the water was cool but not freezing. I\u2019ve never liked getting knocked down by violent waves or turning blue from frigid waters. In Niantic, I was able to swim out and back without worrying about getting carried away. For a Midwestern girl, these were ideal waters for a long swim and a chance to enjoy the freedom and tranquility of a calm sea, where every dip feels like a lucky streak.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dunejewelry.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/IMG_0121.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-788 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/dunejewelry.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/IMG_0121.jpeg\" alt=\"IMG_0121\" width=\"479\" height=\"640\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dunejewelry.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/IMG_0121.jpeg 479w, https:\/\/dunejewelry.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/IMG_0121-300x401.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 479px) 100vw, 479px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Downtown Niantic is a long stretch of street with restaurants, shops, an old movie theater, and\u00a0easy access to the beach. For breakfast, we went to Caf\u00e9 Sol, a local coffee shop that displayed\u00a0colorful artwork on the walls and had an impressive flower garden and patio out front. As a\u00a0former barista, I have high standards when it comes to coffee, and I can tell you whole\u00a0heartedly that Caf\u00e9 Sols cold-brewed iced coffee exceeded my expectations. Alex and I both\u00a0ordered breakfast sandwiches that were also fantastic. It seemed as though everyone in town\u00a0was congregating there for breakfast, the patio full of people lingering outside drinking coffee\u00a0while their dogs reclined in the shade of the tall flowers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dunejewelry.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/IMG_0128.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-791 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/dunejewelry.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/IMG_0128-225x300.jpeg\" alt=\"IMG_0128\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>After breakfast, we walked up to McCook Point where we found a lovely little beach and a\u00a0grassy park that overlooked the ocean.<\/p>\n<h2>We had a nice walk around and found a bench where\u00a0we could sit and look out on the whole of Niantic.<\/h2>\n<p>On our way back to the cottage, we stopped at Scotti\u2019s family farm stand to pick up some fresh\u00a0veggies for dinner. The farm has been in operation since 1944! Alex&#8217;s family has been buying produce from the farm for years. There is a little store set in front of a large cornfield and a tall old house. I loved that I could actually see where the\u00a0food was growing. A friendly woman helped me pick out the best ears of corn, while an old\u00a0curly haired dog snored behind the counter. All the produce smelled and looked amazing.\u00a0Everything was vibrant and perfectly ripe. Alex said my dinner of Cajun salmon with shrimp and corn was the best meal I&#8217;d ever made for\u00a0him and that he&#8217;ll remember those tomatoes for the rest of his life. I know I will too.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dunejewelry.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/IMG_0134.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-792 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/dunejewelry.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/IMG_0134-225x300.jpeg\" alt=\"IMG_0134\" width=\"204\" height=\"271\" \/><\/a>To remember my weekend in Niantic CT (and the worlds tastiest tomatoes), I made a <a href=\"https:\/\/dunejewelry.com\/blog\/jewelry\/necklaces\/gold-marina-necklace\">Gold\u00a0Overlay Sandollar Necklace<\/a> and a Bronze Sandollar Bracelet with sand from McCook Point. I\u00a0love gold jewelry and how the warmth of the metal compliments the little flecks of gold in the\u00a0sand. I&#8217;ll wear these pieces all winter and count down the days till I can go back next summer.<\/p>\n<p>Has anyone else spent time at a fantastic beach this summer?
