In 2016, 12 year old Molly had an idea of giving back to show her gratitude for her two rescue dogs Riley and Gracie. She set out on a one year mission to raise money and awareness for homeless dogs in the United States. She called the project P.A.W.S. - Precious Animals, Wonderful Shelters. In one year she raised over $28,000, collected $40,000 worth of items from companies, volunteered more than 400 hours, and traveled to Georgia twice working to rescue over 79 dogs from high kill shelters and bring them to New England for adoption.
Molly has inspired so many, and will continue her efforts beyond the one year of the project. With the creation of the P.A.W.S. Project Foundation, Molly can further the mission of P.A.W.S. Project by committing to a future of rescuing southern animals in need, and supporting existing rescue and shelter organizations through fundraising, grant writing and corporate and individual sponsorship of homeless dogs in the south.

The Cook Museum’s humble roots can be traced back to 1968 when John Cook, Sr. opened his professional insect collection to the public by appointment, which at the time had been used primarily for employee training at Cook’s Pest Control. It later grew to include a wide array of mounted wildlife, touring malls throughout Alabama, Tennessee and Georgia. In 1980, additional collections of rocks, minerals, fossils, coral, sea shells, mounted wildlife and federally protected migratory birds were acquired and a 5,000-square-foot building was constructed. At that time, what became known as Cook’s Natural Science Museum came into existence, and it welcomed more than 750,000 visitors from its opening in 1980 until its closing in 2015.
In 2019, construction will be complete on the new Cook Museum of Natural Science. In collaboration with corporate and community leaders of Decatur-Morgan County and North Alabama, the Cook family of Cook’s Pest Control proposes to develop the new Cook Museum of Natural Science in the heart of downtown Decatur in 2018. This state-of-the-art facility will serve the people of North Alabama and the Southeast as an educational destination and cultural venue for various programs and meetings. The museum will offer significant tourism opportunities and will enhance our region as a premier destination.
