Did you know our Sandbank holds over 5,000 sands and earth elements from across the globe? Did you know it’s people like you that have helped us collect material from all these amazing locations? Yes! You can send us your own sand or earth element for your custom jewelry design. Our Sand Stylist & Personal Shopper, Lauren answers how!

Send us your own Sand, Flowers, Crushed Rock & More

I get people every day who ask me if we can use sand they collected on their honeymoon, a shell they collected while beachcombing, and yes, even cremains from a passed loved one for a custom jewelry design. I’ve even helped someone style their baby’s onesie into a beautiful ring!

We’ve used just about everything in our handcrafted jewelry designs and are always willing to experiment with new Earth Elements. We do know that liquids and anything super salty doesn’t work with our process, but just about everything else will!

Picking out your Custom Jewelry Design

Thinking about your elements you want to place in a Dune Jewelry design, I always start with “What part of your story do you want to tell?”

If it’s a favorite beach day, our Wave Collection is always a sure bet! We also have a great selection of Ocean Inspired designs like Flip Flops and Sand Dollars, but I also love the stunning Shoreline Necklace.

When you’re capturing a significant memory, one you might want to wear every day and never take off, I love recommending a Delicate Dune Necklace or an easy-to-wear ring like our best-selling Boho Stack Ring.

Do you have multiple elements? We’ve got custom jewelry designs for that! I love helping people arrange their elements in the Rope Seven Sands Ring, our Endless Summer Cuff Bracelet, and even the Bubbles Necklace – Multi-Element! Adding pops of color with elements from our Sandbank like Turquoise, Sea Glass, or Beach Rose Petals help enhance the beauty of capturing your memories.

Placing Your Order

Found your favorite custom jewelry design? Great, now we can get your order in! On the top of the product page, hit “Select Element”. Under that, you’ll see “Send Us Your Own Element”, when you hit that, a field will pop out where you can tell us a little information about what type of Element you’re sending us. Now you can add the design to your cart!

step 1 click "select element" step 2 click "Send Us Your Own Element" step 3 name your unique Sand or Earth Element

Filling out your Form

Now you can prep your elements and fill out the form we’ll need to properly match your elements with your order in our studio. On the form, we ask for your information, the order number, and for more information about your element. When we package your element we label exactly where it’s from or what memory you’re capturing.  Fun fact: if you use a nickname for your beach or you want a date called out on your label, you can add that information on your form. Additionally, if you want a certain color or part of your element to take the center stage of your design, you can write a note to our Sand Artists on the form!

How much of your element do we need? About a Soda’s Caps worth of material is enough for one design. Send us 1/4 cup of sand or element and we will add it to our Sandbank!

Sending your Elements

double ziplock bag

If you’re sending sand, we ask that you follow these steps:

  • Please adhere to all local rules and regulations when sand or element collecting.
  • Take as little as possible, we only need a  soda cap (or a tsp)
  • Please declare any material you bring or send into the U.S.: PURE OCEAN SAND
  • Sand CANNOT contain any organic matter (soil, sticks, seaweed, etc.)
  • We recommend suspending sand in a glass of water, discard anything that floats, dry it out and send away

If you’re pressing flowers from a wedding bouquet or a memorial bouquet, here are some tips and tricks:

  • Place the petals as flat as possible between plain white printer paper and set it in the pages of a heavy book
  • Let your petals dry for about 1 – 2 weeks. If petals aren’t dry they can get moldy in the shipping process and we won’t be able to use them.
  • In our process, the colors of the petal deepen in color. If your white petals turned brown or yellow, they will appear brown and yellow. Colorful flowers look the best!

Double ziplock bag your elements and use a bubble mailer for the safest shipment to our studio. Once it arrives, our Sand Artists will lovingly handcraft your order and send it right back to you!
