Giving Back to the Marine Mammal Care Center
“We’re so excited about our partnership over labor day weekend! The jewelry is jaw-dropping and then to have the personalization with our release beach sand makes this even more special for us. Thank you to the Dune team for including us in this amazing event and for helping us save the sea puppies!” – Jaime Hasama, Marine Mammal Care Center Los Angeles
The Labor Day event drew attention from supporters well beyond the jewelry world. Over the past few years, MMCC has built a patchwork of partnerships with small businesses and digital platforms looking to align their brands with ocean conservation, and the Dune collaboration is the latest in a series that has helped fund critical rehabilitation work.
Fundraising drives have pulled in contributions from lifestyle subscription services, online slots real money platforms hosting charity promotions, and regional surf shops that donate a cut of late-summer sales. Each partnership tends to be modest in scale but collectively they cover costs that government grants and individual donations leave short.
That diversified funding model has become essential as stranding numbers along the Southern California coast have climbed. With more animals arriving malnourished or entangled in debris, the center’s per-patient costs have risen steadily, making every new brand partnership a practical necessity rather than a marketing exercise.
