Dune’s Sandbank holds thousands of sands and natural elements from iconic locations around the world. I’ve worked closely with many of these elements over the years, and learned more than I ever expected about why certain sands have different colorations or textures. Dune’s core message is capturing your memories, however sands that don’t have a personal meaning to you can make stunning jewelry and inspire wanderlust. Here are some of my favorites!

Sedona, Arizona

Sedona is home to the mystic red soil, said to have healing spiritual powers from magnetic vortexes. I love the uniqueness of the color, you can only find this red in the desert areas of the world. Use this red a lot as a contrast to the natural turquoise that is also found in Arizona in one of our Gradient designs. Here, I’ve styled an Endless Summer Cuff Bracelet with an alteration of Sedona & Turquoise.

The Island of Bermuda

One of the most unique sands in our bank – the pretty pink sands of Bermuda are iconic. What is the pinkest sand on the Island? Jobson’s Cove, Bermuda has the chunkiest pink bits mixed in with shell and sand. The blush tones of this sand will transport you to a warm day under a tropical sun. I love adding Bermuda to our heart designs, my personal favorite being the Full Heart Stationary Necklace.

Destin, Florida

Over 20,000 years ago the melting of the last ice age brought the pure quartz of the Appalachian Mountains down to the Gulf of Mexico creating the pure white beaches of the Florida Panhandle. A favorite spot for many beach go-ers, this crystal white sand looks great paired with our Larimar pieces. Here I’ve styled a Rope Seven Sands Ring with light pink conch shell and our Amazonite power stone to capture the blush tones of the Panhandle Sunset.

Vik Beach, Iceland

Dramatic volcanic landscapes lend to dark and textural sands. Iceland is personally on my bucket list. I’m longing to float in the geothermal pools like the Blue Lagoon. If you’re looking to add a touch of dark color to your pieces, any place with volcanic activity is your best bet, even better if it’s Iceland. These Shoreline Double-Sided Hoops capture the drama of the volcanic sand perfectly.
