The employees pride themselves on their customer service, and love seeing visitors year after year, as well as their loyal local customers.

One line that has been a constant for The Big Bamboo for years is Dune Jewelry. From Amanda Silvernail, VP of Retail Operations, “I remember starting with Dune when they had only a few pieces and they were just starting out. It quickly turned into our favorite and most successful vendor. The sales support has been outstanding, and I can tell they really love their customers and want them to succeed. So, not only do they have a completely awesome and unique product, they truly stand behind it. It’s a favorite of both our employees and our customers. It is so fun to have them pick their favorite piece of jewelry, to commemorate their special occasions. We get to become part of their journey, which is what small business is all about.”

The Big Bamboo carries a very large selection of Dune Jewelry made with sand from New Smyrna Beach and nearby Flagler Beach, and continue to expand their selection each month, bringing in a new collection to add to their mix for a regular fresh look. In 2019, they further expanded their Dune presence in their sister store across the street, Friki Tiki, with the Blue by Dune Jewelry line. As one of the first to carry the Blue by Dune Jewelry, their customers love the beauty and highest quality of the Larimar stones. Friki Tiki also carries the Touch the World collection of giving back bracelets. Each of the 12 designs gives back to a worthy cause.

One event that is always a big success is the annual Dune Jewelry Trunk Show with Holly, in March. The store gets packed with people, many returning every year to attend the trunk show and add to their Dune collection. Customers drive from other cities in Florida just to attend, see what’s new with Dune, and visit with Holly. During the most recent trunk show, a budding young jewelry designer was thrilled to meet Holly and spend time with her collaborating on ideas. Both he and Holly enjoyed the interaction and we wouldn’t be surprised to see him back this coming March.

The employees love to sell Dune and share the story of their Dune Jewelry pieces with their customers. Store lead Kara, especially loves the Wave design and shares her feelings with the customers. When asked about ordering some additional pieces with the Wave design, “I think we should get as many as we can because we sell out of them as soon as we get them……..Everyone loves pieces with Waves.”

Kierra Bennet says, “I love how you can make each piece so personal and sentimental. You can now even do a piece with ashes, that is very neat. The customers are always intrigued, and they always want to know more. It’s definitely one of my favorite things to sell!”

Promoting on social media is a big plus for The Big Bamboo. You will see Dune featured regularly and often! With a great social media following, The Big Bamboo has great success with regularly promoting Dune, and it shows in their repeat customer success.

The Big Bamboo is a huge supporter in their community, dedicating a portion of their sales from special event weekends throughout the year to a local charity. Flagler Avenue is the perfect spot for events and they have them often!
