Fall is in the air and my fridge is stocked with pumpkin spiced everything including almond milk, coffee, scones, Oreos and ice cream.  You name it, I have it. Top it off with a “Spiced Pumpkin” Yankee candle and my house couldn’t be any more prepared for chilly days and falling leaves. As much as I love this time of year, it’s also inevitable that I start dreaming of sandy beaches and far-away places.  New adventures, exotic food, sand and sun are calling me.  Alexa and Lyla are campaigning for Disney World this year, but frankly I thought I had at least two more years before we’d be having breakfast with the princesses.  I’ve done a little deskside day-tripping and here are my top three “wish list” destinations for 2017/2018 travels.

My Top 3 Wish List Destinations:

We create so many custom pieces of Dune Jewelry with sand from Ambergris Caye, so it prompted me to do some research about Belize.  Formerly British Honduras, Belize is an independent country on the eastern coast of Central America.  The official language is English which is nice if you’re not bilingual, and the beaches are out-of-this- world beautiful!

There are so many different kinds of places to stay, ranging from inexpensive beach-side resorts ($85 per night) to stunning overwater bungalows ($1,000+ per night).  This is a destination that I cannot wait to visit, so I’ve made a Coral necklace which is featured in this week’s email, to wear until I can get my feet in the Belizean sand.

Nan Lian Garden Hong KongHong Kong

I literally had never once thought of traveling to Hong Kong until recently when (simultaneously) I read an article about the legendary food scene, a new friend traveled there and raved about the nightlife, then our Sales Manager told me it’s one of her most favorite cities in the world. Sold!  November is a great month to travel to Hong Kong because the weather is mild so you can enjoy colorful outdoor activities or take in the iconic skyline while relaxing at a rooftop restaurant.

Also, what really surprised me is the choice of beautiful beaches and hiking trails on surrounding islands like Lantau.  Recently we’ve been receiving more and more elements from destinations other than beaches to incorporate in to our jewelry.  Things like dirt, crushed rock or special flowers can also be added to any of our designs so I’d be curious to see what unique items I could collect in Hong Kong.

fall destination aruba

 Aruba

“One Happy Island”. Aruba, with its white sand beaches, perfect weather, cooling trade winds and friendly people is exactly what I want from a Caribbean vacation.  The biggest stress each day is what time to head to the beach and whether to enjoy cheap eats or fine dining for dinner.  This would be pure bliss after an insanely busy holiday season and I think my girls would enjoy time in the ocean as well as the pool.  It can’t rival the princesses, but I bet it would be a close second for them.  We’ll have to see!

So those are my wish list destinations. I’d love to hear about where you’re traveling within the next year and of course, don’t forget to collect sand or elements for a custom piece of Dune!
