I have received the most incredible Sand Stories over the past few weeks and I need to share MORE! I am continuously moved by the passion and emotion that surrounds your love of Dune Jewelry. No matter who the message comes from, it’s always about a celebration of life in one form or another. A daughter celebrating a special moment with her Mom, a couple commemorating the location where they first fell in love, a family who has spent countless summers at their family camp or beach house or someone who is dreaming of a special destination they aspire to visit someday.
A unique & special locale – whether a beach, lake, river or mountain can hold so many memories. The same goes for iconic locations such as sporting venues & golf courses as well as social events like family reunions, weddings, birthday parties, a wild girl’s weekend (my fave), the list goes on.
Dune was built around the belief that life is about emotion, experience, fun, food, laughter, celebration and sharing moments with people you love. It’s my goal to capture those extraordinary memories for you in a tangible reminder that will last forever. Here are a few stories that truly struck me as special and I wanted to share them with you.
Sand Soul Mates
My husband and I found each other later in life, and are soul mates…sand mates really. We have a blended family – four teenagers, so always lots going on! At least once a year, we make sure we take a beach getaway and even eloped to the beach. We love the sun, sand, and soul recharge the beach gives us. We have always collected sand from all our stops and display it in our home. I was thrilled when I discovered Dune Jewelry and now love to add to that collection on each adventure as well. -Natasha N.
OBX – Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina
My Granddaddy White built a beach cottage in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina in the 1950s. The area is more commonly known as OBX. As a little girl, my favorite thing to do in the summer was spending time with my grandparents at the beach. My sister and I spent hours in the sun building sand furniture in our make-believe sand house next to the cottage. To this day, that cottage is my most favorite place in the world and I still love the sand. The sand from the beach your company made into a necklace is a treasured reminder of my days at the beach with my grandparents. As a coastal geologist, I am fascinated with sand. I study how it is formed, where it came from, and how it is influenced by surrounding forces. Every grain of sand has a story to tell if you learn how to read it. My pieces of Dune Jewelry not only tell this geologic story of how sand grains came to be but also of my journeys to find them.
