Coronado Island is just across the bridge from San Diego California. It is accessible by car via the Coronado Bridge or by ferry. The Island is home to the US Navy Seals, where on any given day one can see them training on these same beaches.
Coronado is also home to the Hotel del Coronado, built in 1888 on 26 acres of ocean front property. It is the largest wooden structure in the US. The “Del” is the iconic landmark of the community. Located a mere 2 blocks away from the Del is the boutique gift shop Charisma – right in the center of the main shopping area of downtown.
Charisma focuses mainly on ocean-themed items, and one of a kind treasures created by local artisans. Small unique pieces of furniture are often found, along with ladies’ accessories and unusual jewelry items.
Coronado Sand Jewelry
Dune Jewelry has been one of our favorite items since we found it in late 2013. Locals and tourists alike love the jewelry containing black sand with bright gold glimmer, as well as our umbonium shell-filled pieces. It is so special because of the thousands of couples who have been married on the Del beach. Many wedding anniversaries are celebrated on our beach and, with the beautiful sand jewelry from Dune, visitors can create their memory and take it home with them.
The store owners, Christine and Dave Wright, enjoy offering an unusual array of inspirational and heartfelt merchandise. Their personal story is quite interesting as well. They were high school sweethearts in 1960’s Anaheim, where they worked together at Disneyland. The military and the airlines separated them for decades, but due to the loss of their respective spouses and the encouragement of mutual friends, they reconnected in 2009, were married and opened Charisma in 2012.
