This exotic element lay undiscovered in the heart of a Volcano until an earthquake shook it loose and sent the brilliant blue stones tumbling downstream. Discovered in a river in the remote province of Barahona in the Dominican Republic, the rare blue gem was named Larimar, from the Spanish word for ocean, “mar.” The beautiful blue gem is found only in the Dominican Republic.
