Well, hello there! We’re so thrilled you’ve decided to trust us with your vacation memories and create gorgeous keepsakes so you can wear your travels all year round. We know these pieces mean the world to you, so the fabulous thing about Dune Jewelry is that it’s meant to last a lifetime! But we understand that life can have your favorite jewelry pieces looking a little worse for wear, so we wanted to share our tips and tricks to keep your jewelry looking good as new for years to come!

Be mindful of water and humidity

Water is one of the most powerful elements on our Earth, and so it can have a lasting impact on your jewelry. Taking your jewelry off in the water or in humid conditions is a great way to preserve the shine, since it prevents water from interacting with the metal and dulling the brightness! While salt and freshwater aren’t as damaging to sterling silver as chlorine is, they can still have a negative reaction with your jewelry. This also applies to sweat, so make sure to remove your jewelry before working out as well! In general, it’s best to just take your jewelry off anytime you’re planning on getting wet!

Wear your jewelry often!

Believe it or not, sterling silver actually tarnishes less the more it is worn! So don’t be afraid to wear it on any occasion! Just make sure your jewelry is the final step in your beauty routine, as certain chemicals in perfumes or hair products can react with the sterling silver and make it look dull. Make your jewelry the finishing touch of your skincare or makeup routine!

Clean your jewelry:

Even if you’ve been a jewelry care stickler, unfortunately everyday life can make your jewelry dull despite your best efforts! Follow this easy 3 step cleaning routine to get your piece back to looking good as new!

  1. Pump a bit of foam jewelry cleanser all over your jewelry piece (our Jewelry Cleaner and Brush are non-toxic, eco-friendly, and the best way to keep your jewelry polished!)
  2. Wait 30-60 seconds
  3. Wash off in warm water and gently scrub with a soft brush
  4. Polish with a polishing cloth (yup we sell one too!)

Need to buff out a scratch?

If your jewelry has a slight nick, not just some tarnish, you’ll definitely want to pick up our polishing cloth! Using the cloth, rub the metal vigorously in the same direction as the scratch on a clean smooth surface. Or for the resin inlays of your design, grab some boat wax and rub gently along the dome of your design and it should be shining like new in no time!

Lifetime Warranty

If you still can’t get that scratch out or the discoloration from tarnish refuses to go away, Dune Jewelry has a Lifetime Warranty for every piece we sell! We love making these designs for you and getting the chance to capture your memories and we wouldn’t want something as small as a scratch to take that jewelry away from you! If anything should happen to a piece in your Dune Collection, simply contact our studio and we can repair or replace any design for you with pleasure!
