When we received the offer to host a pop-up shop for NYFW last Fall, I was immediately excited for the opportunity. I love NYC! There is always something new to learn and the energy is contagious. The street style alone is runway-ready, and to actually be a part of the biggest week in fashion was an opportunity I’ve dreamed of! Once I realized it was in a venue called Punto Space, I was even MORE excited! It’s a great spot that’s in a convenient location near the fashion district in Midtown Manhattan. The space is designed for artists by artists, and is a very raw, blank canvas which makes it fun to bring to life.
We shared the pop-up space with some fantastic up-and-coming designers including Rosina Mae, Black Pearl Swimwear and Joues De Sable. These are all women who I hope to stay in touch with and possibly collaborate with in the future. Once we arrived, Lauren and I got set up immediately so I was able to network and meet a swimwear manufacturer who creates all of his samples right in NYC. For those of you who know me, that really got my creativity flowing! You should probably keep your eyes open for a signature Dune swimsuit in the near future.
The highlight of the day was when Camille Kostek and the majority of her family joined us to promote Camille’s collaboration with Dune Jewelry and also just to hang out and have some fun. Camille’s Mom, Christina, has quickly become one of my favorite people on earth. She’s a talented storyteller with four children of her own, so she always has my rapt attention while telling stories of Camille, Alina, Julia and Tommy when they were younger. I’d share some of the stories here, but I promised Alan (their Dad) that I’m a “vault” and all secrets are safe with me!
Lauren and I ended the day with a glass of Rose at Friedman’s on 10th and 35th which has quickly become a favorite hangout for us. Lauren even got caught in a Paparazzi cross-fire on her walk over! While we toasted to our first endeavor as part of NYFW, we’re already planning on how we can take NYC by storm in 2020. Stay tuned, Dunies! Love you!
