At Dune Jewelry, every piece tells a story—whether it’s sand from a childhood beach, flowers from a wedding bouquet, or, in Scarlett Mason’s case, broken drumsticks symbolizing her musical journey.

For this edition of Sand Stories, we connected with Scarlett, the talented drummer of the pop rock band Hello Sister. Scarlett shared how her personalized Boho Ring, handcrafted with broken drumsticks from her performances, serves as a constant reminder of her passion, perseverance, and love for music.

Join us as we explore Scarlett’s journey, her connection to Dune Jewelry, and how this one-of-a-kind piece has become a meaningful part of her story.

Q&A with Scarlett, Drummer of Pop Rock Band Hello Sister

We’d love to know about Hello Sister! Tell us a bit about yourself and your band.

Hey! I’m Scarlett Mason and I play the drums and sing in a band called Hello Sister with my sisters! Growing up I was introduced to lots of music and my dad, who was in a band previously, would always be playing his songs around the house. Me and my sisters started learning instruments at a young age in individual lessons. One day we decided we should try playing music together, and we’ve loved it ever since!

Your broken drumsticks must carry so much meaning from your journey as a musician. Can you share the story behind them and why they hold such significance in your life?

I’ve been drumming for years now, and I’ve broken so many drumsticks along the way! Each broken stick kind of feels like a little badge of honor because, to me, it shows how hard I’m pushing myself and how much I’m putting into the music. I always think that when a drummer breaks their sticks, that’s when they’re going all out and giving it everything they’ve got. Drumming is such a huge part of who I am, so having those broken sticks in a piece of jewelry is like carrying a reminder of my journey, every show, and all the energy I put into our music.

How did you feel when you received this sentimental jewelry design?

I was thrilled to receive this beautiful ring as a birthday gift! The moment I saw it, I was instantly hooked. It was exactly my style, and I couldn’t wait to wear it. But when I learned about the deeper meaning it held, I loved it even more. It wasn’t just a stunning piece of jewelry; it represented something truly special and personal. Knowing that it was chosen with such thoughtfulness made it a gift I’ll always treasure.

How did it feel to see your music and memories turned into a piece of jewelry? What does the piece mean to you now?

This ring is way more than just a cute accessory—it’s like a little time capsule of all the best memories! Every time I look at it, I get a flash of those amazing moments on stage.  It’s honestly such a cool reminder of everything I love about performing. Now, it’s not just a ring; it’s a piece of my story, and I’ll always cherish it.

How did you feel when you received the Boho Ring, and why do you think it was the perfect choice for your broken drumsticks?

When I got the Boho Ring, I was so excited! I love all Dune Jewelry because you can personalize each piece to make it totally your own, and this one felt like it was made for me. The design was perfect for my broken drumsticks—it highlighted them in this really subtle but beautiful way that shows off my style without being too flashy. If I hadn’t gotten the Boho Ring, I think I would’ve picked one of their necklaces. But honestly, the Boho Ring couldn’t be more perfect for me!

How do you feel wearing this ring, knowing it holds a piece of your musical career?

It’s so exciting to carry a piece of my music with me everywhere! Knowing something so personal is part of the ring makes it feel like more than just jewelry. Every time I look at it, I’m reminded of all the hard work and amazing moments on stage. It’s meaningful and stylish—truly the best of both worlds!

As a musician, your band travels quite a bit, taking you across the country for weeks at a time. You’ve recently brought your live sets to a variety of different stages, from massive coastal amphitheaters to new entertainment lounges backed by missouri online casinos. With all this time spent out on the road, does the Boho Ring have a special place in your daily tour routine or your on-stage performances?

As a musician always on the go, the Boho Ring has become a staple for me! I love wearing it for every occasion, but it feels especially special during live performances and photo shoots. Having it on stage lets my personality shine through, and it looks amazing in photos, reminding me of all the awesome memories I’m creating!

Do you usually wear jewelry? How did you first hear about Dune Jewelry and what stands out about them?

I definitely love wearing jewelry! With Dune Jewelry, what really stands out to me is how each piece feels so personal to every customer. It’s like every ring, necklace, or bracelet holds its own story, which is super cool. I think it’s amazing that you can carry a memory with you and cherish it forever. Whether it’s a special moment from a trip, a milestone, or just something that means a lot to you, Dune makes it possible to keep those memories close. It’s more than just jewelry; it’s like a little piece of your life that you get to wear every day!

I first heard about Dune Jewelry from a friend who was completely hooked on their pieces, and I’m so glad she told me! She was showing off this amazing necklace with sand from her favorite beach, and I thought it was the coolest idea ever. I love anything that’s unique and has a story behind it, so I checked them out right away. Now I’m a huge fan, too!

What other element would you consider adding into a personalized piece of Dune?

Another element I would consider adding into a personalized piece would probably be the sand and shells of a beach I grew up going to every summer! It reminds me of my Grandmother, who adored that beach, and I would love to have a piece of her with me at all times.
