My favorite piece – and one of the most popular pieces of Dune Jewelry is the Rope Seven Sands Ring. It’s a faux-stacker, meaning it’s extremely comfortable and easy to wear while having a bold impact on your hand. I’ve seen women create theirs in many unique ways, like a diagonal pattern of crushed Turquoise or Mother-of-Pearl shell for a balance of color to go with the sand from their favorite beach. My favorite way is selecting sands and natural elements from your seven of your favorite memories. Mine is filled with places that have left a mark on me, and every time I look at my hand I’m taken back to those places:

1. Baha Mar, Nassau, Bahamas –

One of the best perks that has come with working for Dune Jewelry and Holly was getting to go on the Bahamas photoshoot we did with Camille Kostek last year. It was a whirlwind 48 hours on Nassau, with shooting one day, store trainings/wrap up shoot the next day. I got a chance to sneak in a snorkel with the Turtles on the second day, the first time I’d ever been. We all ended the last day floating on the beach at SLS Baha Mar and purchasing a “Shell Phone” off of one of the funniest men on the beach. He had opinions on everything from Nassau nightlife to the best online crypto casino, and his sales pitch alone was worth the price of the shell. It was a perfect blend of working with and enjoying the company of boss-babes.

2. Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina –

Wilmington/Wrightsville is an underrated area of the East Coast and has so many fun things to do. On my night off during a trunk show tour, I took a cab to the main street in town and told the driver to drop me off where ever live music was playing. He dropped me off and every bar in the surrounding area was bustling with music. I picked a place that had an amazing female voice coming out of it and caught a great performance by The Broad Cast out of Asheville, NC (another underrated town). They are an amazing funk/folk band and were even nicer when I met them after the show. Next day I took myself to the beach and not only ran into a shark sighting (I love sharks so I was freaking out) but I ran into the band and invited them to join my beach day. I love making new friends both in and out of water.

3. Lake Superior, Marquette, Michigan –

While I do love Lake Michigan; my favorite of the Great Lakes is Superior. The largest of the Great Lakes had me swimming in its deep waters while sunbathing on the Black Rocks of Presque Isle Park in Marquette, MI. I had a self-date that day – splashing in the water like a kid, chasing chipmunks on the trail, and finding my own private grotto. Definitely one of the best dates I’ve taken myself on.

4. Wahweap Beach, Lake Powell, AZ –

My two best friends know I’m not a morning person, especially when we didn’t arrive at our campsite on Lake Powell until the wee hours of the morning and woke up at 6 am due to the heat in our tent. I ripped open the zipper ready to scream for coffee when I saw the lake and desert before me. The words and bad mood were ripped out of my mouth, as it’s impossible to feel anything but be in awe of the natural beauty that is the American South West. Not to mention Lake Powell provides top-notch swimming conditions.

5. Fenway Park Infield, Boston, MA –

Home would be the easiest way to describe Fenway Park. From my first trip with my Dad to the Celebrity All-Star ’99 game to working there out of High School (the worst job I’ve ever had, but Papelbon waved to me one day during warm-ups), Fenway is ingrained in my life, whether or not I know the current standing of the AL East. No matter what I’m screaming “MOOKS!” with a Fenway Frank in my hands and nostalgia in my heart a few times every year.

6. Montauk, Long Island, New York –

I have a lot of stories I could say about Montauk, but most of them are best left there in the sand dunes. My favorite trip was a couple of summers ago with my beaux, watching sunsets off of Gosman’s Dock and beaching it at the Lighthouse Park. There is something special about “The End” that I will cherish forever.

7. O’Carrol’s Cove, Ring of Kerry, Ireland –

While I was excited for a 6 day, 3 car caravan, 9 people road trip of the West Coast of Ireland with some of my closest friends, I didn’t know how much I would love Ireland. On our first day of the trip, I gathered sand from a riverbank in a random town we stopped in I heard “Lauren are you really going to collect sand from everywhere we go?” Do they not know I work for Dune Jewelry? However the memories we made there struck us all, that on the last day when we found a bar on the beach in the middle of the Ring of Kerry, they all were shouting “Lauren, get the sand from over here, it’s way prettier than the sand that’s over there!”
Happy Travels!
