Our friend Dawna shares the sand story about her personalized engagement ring, handcrafted with seven sentimental sands. Her Rope Seven Sands Ring capture seven incredible memories, she can hold onto forever.

“This is our second time finding love. We are a bit older and have found what true compatibility is. Ted asked my daughters what sands to put into it as he could not remember them all. So, my ring is a joint effort of the ones I love.” – Dawna

Dawna's Personalized Engagement Ring - Handcrafted with Memories

1. Misquamicut Beach Rhode Island

My first sand choice is Misquamicut Beach Rhode Island, a place frequented especially when my girls were young. They learned to body surf and boogie board here.

2. North Myrtle Beach

My second sand is North Myrtle Beach is the place we took our first family vacation. We spent hours playing in the surf and finding shells at night.

3. Head of the Meadow Beach, Cape Cod

The third is Head of the Meadow Beach, Cape Cod, which is the second family trip. It’s where we saw our first white shark in the water. I love white sharks and was over the moon when we saw it!

4. Perkins Cove, Maine

The fourth is Perkins Cove, Maine is a place I have been going to since I was an infant and try to return yearly. So many memories of trips with my parents, bringing my own children and watching them go on their own. Memories of the kids being able to open the draw bridge, small shops with the best items, and the beginning of the Marginal Way.

5. Long Sands York, Maine

The fifth is Long Sands York, Maine is another favorite Maine spot of my childhood. The most vivid memory of the past is sitting in my parent’s station wagon during a storm and waves crashing over the car. When the storm passed we got ice cream at the dairy bar and waked the beach for treasures. It already has one of the best views of the Nubble Lighthouse from afar.

6. Wells Beach, Maine

Sixth is Wells Beach in Maine is the place I first went into the ocean. As a child, my dad taught me to body surf here. My mom would comb the beach for white shells and we would watch the seals in the harbor. This is the first place all three of my daughters went into the ocean for the first time and is also a must-go yearly.

7. Hammonasset Beach, Madison CT

The last and seventh sand is Hammonasset Beach in Madison CT, this is a new area for me. Ted introduced me to this gem. In the past 2 years, it has become our go-to for a quick trip to swim, have dinner on the beach around sunset with the family, and shell collecting. It was our peace this year with covid as we could go in the evening and enjoy without many people around.

All these memories came together in my one-of-a-kind engagement ring…

Ted proposed to me on a trip planned by my daughters for my birthday. He proposed at the Marginal Way in Maine, in a spot I have frequented throughout my life with my parents and sister, my children, and now with him. With my family passed, this spot made it feel like they were there with us.

Some want diamonds, but for me, this beautiful ring handmade with my memories is so much more, it connects the best parts of my life and our future together and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

We loved helping Dawna cherish her incredible memories!  Keep your favorite memories close at hand and create your own one-of-a-kind ring.
